About the Event

Love it or hate it, Qualtrics is the predominant survey platform used in many universities and that seems unlikely to change in the near future. This online-only workshop helps you deal with the inevitability of Qualtrics by providing you some tips and tricks that you can use in your surveys immediately. Expect plenty of opportunities to work on surveys, ask questions, and commiserate over our shared Qualtrics misery.

Together, we will tackle tasks such as styling your survey for customisation and consistency (e.g., font size and type), using Qualtrics to help with managing longitudinal surveys, making surveys more resistant to spam and abuse, and using some basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript to jazz things up a little. If time allows, we might also take a quick look at some extended use cases of Qualtrics or perhaps have a short “Can I do that with Qualtrics?” Q&A session.

To make the most out of this workshop, you should:

  1. have a Qualtrics account that you can log on to,
  2. have made a Qualtrics survey before, even if it’s just one with a few questions. Bonus points if you can set yourself up with two screens: one to look at my presentation, and the other to look at your Qualtrics platform.

About the Speaker:

Jia-Xin Tay is a PhD candidate and a research assistant at the Centre for Transformative Work Design (based at Curtin's Future of Work Institute). Jia-Xin has published more than 40 non-peer-reviewed Qualtrics surveys and reckons that while he does not have all the answers, he does at least have some clues.
