Laura Fruhen

Dr Laura Fruhen is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Transformative Work Design. Laura studied psychology at the Justus-Liebig-Universität in Giessen, Germany and received her PhD from University of Aberdeen in the UK in 2012.

Laura’s research interests are teamwork, leadership and management influences on safety, health and wellbeing at work. She has studied teams and leaders at various levels in organisations, ranging from the most senior individuals to those at the sharp end. Laura’s current projects focus on team coordination in operating theatres, and the role of work design in FIFO mental health. She has conducted her research in the energy sector, the aviation sector, healthcare, construction, and firefighting.

Laura’s work has been funded by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), Shell, and the Mental Health Commission. Laura has been awarded a studentship by the German National Academic Foundation and an Endeavour Fellowship by the Australian Government’s Department of Education.
